GiveOrTake is my IOU Manager

Have you borrowed something and you forgot who from?
Have you ever lent an item to someone and then you couldn’t remember who it was?
Do you forget to return books, rented movies or other things?
Do you find it hard to keep track of all your IOU ‘s?

GiveOrTake will help you keep track of all these: you can use your address book and you can rely on the application to show you when an item is due. These are just a few of the features that are available in this initial release and it is up to you to request more that you’d like to see in the next version.

Features:
- integration with your Address Book to pick a contact or simply type a nickname
- use a simple but useful datepicker to select the return date
- use a predefined category (rename or even duplicate them) or create a new one
- remove the categories or the items when you no longer need them
- badges on both categories and the application itself when an item is due to be returned
- category color changes when it contains due items

    Hi

This was the first program I bought to my iPhone. Worked great, biggest problem was that I didn’t have it before so I couldn’t really remember what things I have lent to people and should fill in.

I have a couple of thought on improvements:

    1. I noticed this while added Given money. You will only see the amount on the list page which isn’t that helpful. It would be good if you saw the note as well. Might be good for other items as well though the screen space might be limited in those cases.

    2. I’m missing a summary page, only showing the items I have lent to people, order by date, ascending.

    3. The Add/View item screen doesn’t feel like a standard interface.

    * I think the labels should be a lot smaller and left aligned.
    * The text boxes should be larger and become multi-lined if needed.
    * When writing something in the text boxes the default should be to capitalize the first letter.
    * When writing something in the Notes field, the text isn’t completely visible because of the keyboard.
    * The Remove button isn’t that fun Apple style button. (http://networkpx.blogspot.com/2009/08/trivia-for-preference-bundles.html)
    * That “Please tap save when finished” feels unnecessary.

Didn’t think I had that many thoughts about but I apparently did :-)

Keep up your good work. Your blog seems to be interesting so I have added it to my Google Reader account

Thank you Marcus. Your input is greatly appreciated!

Also, an update is just around the corner. Some of the things you pointed out will actually be fixed/updated.

    Cheers…

Hi there, congratulations for the app, I love it. I was wondering if you can add the feature of sorting the items by name and not only by category, so that I immediately know how many things I borrowed or I lent to the same person. This will help me, next time I meet that person, to remember to give him back all his/her stuff or remind him to do the same.
Hope you can do it, thanks!
